Question1: I don’t feel like waking up in the morning. I feel exhausted and can’t focus on work. I don’t feel like going out or playing with my kids. My family is worried about my health. Why do I feel this way?
Answer: You seem to have symptoms of mild depression. My suggestion would be to go through this checklist and if you positive to more than three question then you should consult your physician.
Persistent sad or “empty” mood
Feeling guilty or worthless
Loss of pleasure or interest in activities
Feeling slowed down, restless or having trouble sitting still
Difficulty concentrating, remembering or making decisions
Trouble falling asleep, waking up too early or oversleeping
Loss of appetite or weight loss (both)
Overeating and weight gain
Feeling irritable
Fatigue or loss of energy
Persistent physical symptoms that do not respond to treatment, such as headaches, or other aches
Thought of death or suicide
Question2: Lately, I have feeling of fear; nervousness or feeling that something bad is going to happen. Do you think it is depression and can only be treated with antidepressants?
Answer: Without knowing more it is hard to say but with little description you have given it seems like you have anxiety and cause of it is unknown at this point. Few suggestions are to calm yourself and meditate for half an hour and avoid stressful situations. Eat balanced diet. Do it for a week and if you don’t any better then you should consult a doctor.
